Aaron Rodgers threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns, reaching 539 career scores to tie Peyton Manning for third in NFL history.
Aaron Rodgers completed 33 of 49 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) to a 26-19 overtime victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The performance allowed the 42-year-old quarterback to tie Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning for third place on the NFL’s career passing touchdown list with 539. Rodgers now trails only Tom Brady (649) and Drew Brees (571) in the category.
Pittsburgh overcame a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit by orchestrating four scoring drives in the final period. After being sacked five times through three quarters and throwing a first-quarter interception, Rodgers connected with Darnell Washington for a 5-yard touchdown early in the fourth. The game-winning play occurred with 3:15 remaining in overtime, when Rodgers capped a 12-play, 70-yard drive with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Germie Bernard.
The Buccaneers (1-5) relied on four field goals from Chase McLaughlin to maintain a lead for much of the contest. Playing without injured receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson, the Steelers' offense struggled until the final frame. Tampa Bay’s final possession ended at the Pittsburgh 48-yard line when Jalen Ramsey sacked rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels for an 11-yard loss on fourth down, according to ESPN News Services.
