PT Prachuap winger Andros Townsend escaped with only bumps and bruises after being run over by a pitch roller during a halftime warmup.

PT Prachuap defeated Pattani 3-0 as former England international Andros Townsend returned to the pitch as a late substitute despite being run over by a heavy pitch roller during halftime. The incident occurred while Townsend participated in a 'rondo' warmup drill in Thailand. The winger fell to the floor as the machinery passed over his left ankle and knee, both of which had previously undergone surgery.

Townsend described the event as "quite terrifying" during an appearance on Piers Morgan's Football Uncensored, noting that his teammates called for a stretcher and urged him to see a doctor. Despite the impact, the former Luton Town player avoided structural damage, suffering only minor bumps and bruises. He attributed his lack of injury to falling at the correct moment, which prevented his limbs from snapping under the weight of the roller.

Before joining PT Prachuap, Townsend played for Thai side Kanchanaburi Power and Turkish club Antalyaspor following his departure from English football after the 2023-24 season. The veteran winger joked on social media that the incident made a difficult away fixture at Stoke City seem less daunting by comparison. He confirmed he has not pressed charges against the driver of the machinery.
