Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo faces an eight-week absence after sustaining a knee injury during a 3-2 Premier League victory over Ipswich Town, manager Enzo Maresca confirmed. The Ghana international, who joined the club from Bournemouth last January, suffered the setback after entering the match as a 76th-minute substitute. While a scan revealed the damage was not as severe as initially feared, the 24-year-old is expected to be sidelined for two months. Semenyo has recorded two goals for City this season, both of which were scored against Sunderland last month.
In contrast to Semenyo’s long-term prognosis, Erling Haaland is in contention to face AEK Athens in the Champions League this Tuesday. Despite limping after the weekend fixture against Ipswich, Maresca indicated the striker could be available following a final training session. Additionally, Matheus Nunes, Mateo Kovacic, and Nico O'Reilly are expected to remain available despite picking up minor knocks in the same match. To cover Semenyo's absence on the flanks, City will rely on wide options including Jérémy Doku, Phil Foden, Iliman Ndiaye, Rayan Cherki, and Allan.
