Atlanta City FC will join the NWSL as an expansion team in 2028, featuring a red and Georgia peach color scheme.

Atlanta City FC will begin play in the NWSL in 2028 as one of two expansion teams, bringing the league to a total of 18 clubs. The team’s identity, unveiled on Monday, features a red and Georgia peach color palette centered on a crest containing a red phoenix and a dogwood shape. An 'A' is positioned in the middle of the phoenix, while the club's tertiary wordmark is "ATL CTY."

Owned by Arthur Blank’s AMB Sports and Entertainment, the club shares ownership with Atlanta United FC of MLS. Chief business officer Deandra Duggans stated the team aims to sell out the 71,000-seat Mercedes-Benz Stadium for its inaugural match. Achieving this goal would surpass the current NWSL attendance record of 63,004, established by Denver Summit FC in March.

The branding process took approximately five to six months and included input from Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. While the club shares the ACFC acronym with Angel City FC, Duggans noted that the Los Angeles-based team owns the equity in that specific abbreviation. The new franchise joins Columbus, Ohio, as the two confirmed expansion entries for the 2028 season.

Atlanta previously hosted professional women's soccer via the Atlanta Beat, which competed in the WUSA from 2001-2003 and WPS from 2010-2011. Although the "Beat" name was not revived, former players Cindy Parlow Cone and Cat Reddick Whitehill will participate in the brand launch on Sunday. Parlow Cone currently serves as the president of U.S. Soccer.
