Retired managers Dusty Baker, Bruce Bochy, Joe Maddon, and Lou Piniella are among eight candidates on the Hall of Fame's contemporary era ballot for a December 6 vote.

Retired managers Dusty Baker, Bruce Bochy, Joe Maddon, and Lou Piniella are among eight men named to the Hall of Fame's contemporary era committee ballot for managers, executives, and umpires. The 16-member committee will meet on Dec. 6 at the winter meetings in San Diego, where candidates require 75% of the vote for election. Any individual chosen will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on July 25.

Baker, a three-time Manager of the Year, finished his 26-season managerial career with a 2,183-1,862 record and a 2022 World Series title. Bochy won four World Series championships across 28 seasons, compiling 2,252 regular-season victories. Maddon, who led the Chicago Cubs to their first title in 108 years in 2016, recorded 1,382 wins over 19 seasons. Piniella returns to the ballot after receiving 11 votes in both 2018 and 2023; he won 1,835 games and the 1990 World Series during 23 seasons as a manager.

The ballot also features former general managers Sandy Alderson and Brian Sabean. Alderson served as Oakland's GM during their 1989 championship and later held executive roles with the Padres and Mets. Sabean won three World Series titles as general manager of the San Francisco Giants from 1996 to 2014. Rounding out the candidates are the late Atlanta Braves owner Ted Turner and former National League President Bill White, who previously served as a Yankees broadcaster and five-time All-Star first baseman.
