Barça Reject $46M PSG Bid for Ferran Torres After 21-Goal Season

Barcelona have rejected an opening transfer proposal of approximately €40 million ($46m) from Paris Saint-Germain for striker Ferran Torres. The 26-year-old forward, who is under contract at Camp Nou until 2027, informed club officials last week of his intention to join the reigning European champions. Torres has already reached an agreement regarding personal terms with the French side, where he would reunite with former Spanish national team coach Luis Enrique.

Statistically, Torres has become a consistent threat in front of goal. He recorded 21 goals in 49 appearances during the most recent campaign, building on a previous season where he netted 19 times in 45 matches. His potential departure would leave Barcelona thin at the position following Robert Lewandowski’s move to Chicago Fire. Barcelona’s Pursuit of Julián Álvarez

To replace the former Manchester City man, Barcelona have identified Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez as their primary target. The club previously submitted a bid of roughly €100m for the Argentine earlier this summer, but Atlético Madrid rejected the offer and maintain they will not sell. Álvarez, who returned to training this week after his World Cup participation, has expressed a desire to move, telling ESPN that a transfer would be "best for all parties" to allow him to fulfill his dream.

Reports in Spain suggest Álvarez will reiterate his request to leave Atlético to facilitate a move to Barcelona. However, the Madrid-based club's reluctance to negotiate may force Barça to evaluate alternative options if the Torres sale to PSG proceeds.
