The Toronto Blue Jays stated that anti-Muslim videos shared by Anthony Santander do not represent the organization's values.
The Toronto Blue Jays issued a statement on November 6, 2026, clarifying that anti-Muslim videos shared on Anthony Santander’s social media account do not reflect the team's beliefs. According to the Associated Press, the 32-year-old right-fielder deleted the content on Thursday following the U.S. midterm elections. The shared footage featured a Christian preacher claiming "there is no such thing as kind Muslims" and suggested Sharia law would be implemented in the U.S. after Abdul El-Sayed became the first Muslim American elected to the Senate in Michigan.
Santander is currently under a five-year, $92.5 million contract with Toronto but missed the entire most recent season due to shoulder surgery. Before joining the Blue Jays, the Venezuelan outfielder played eight seasons for the Baltimore Orioles. The organization emphasized that they have established an inclusive environment at their ballpark and noted that individual comments from players are independent of the franchise's official stance.
