The endorsement follows a 31-10 season-opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last Monday, in which Denver’s offense was limited to 176 total yards from scrimmage. Head coach Sean Payton defended the first-year coordinator on Thursday, stating that the entire offensive operation shared responsibility for the performance.

Quarterback Bo Nix faced significant pressure during the debut, enduring a career-high four sacks and committing four turnovers, including three fumbles and one interception. Nix lost one of those fumbles as the offense struggled to sustain drives. Webb, who was promoted from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator in February, previously interviewed for head coaching vacancies with the Raiders, Bills, and Ravens during the offseason.

Denver looks to rebound in Week 2 as they host the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars previously defeated the Broncos 34-20 during their meeting in Denver last season. Payton emphasized a need for a quick turnaround, noting that the team must learn from the Week 1 errors that left "dirt on a ton of people's hands."
