Denver moved to 4-2 on the season after Wil Lutz kicked a game-winning field goal to defeat Seattle 17-14 on Thursday night.

The Denver Broncos defeated the Seattle Seahawks 17-14 in overtime at Empower Field at Mile High on Thursday night. Wil Lutz provided the winning margin with a field goal following a Ja'Quan McMillian interception in the extra period. Denver built a 14-3 halftime lead behind two rushing touchdowns, including a score that capped a season-long 16-play drive. The victory marks the 40th consecutive win for coach Sean Payton when his teams hold a double-digit lead at the half.

Denver’s defense recorded five sacks for the second straight game despite playing without All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain II and safety Talanoa Hufanga. The unit limited Seattle to 184 total yards through the first three quarters. Quarterback Bo Nix operated a run-heavy offense that featured 26 rushing attempts and 27 passes, with Nix failing to record a completion longer than 16 yards.

Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold finished with seven interceptions over his last four games after throwing two picks on Thursday night. Despite the loss, Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 12 passes for 134 yards, tying Tyler Lockett for the most games in franchise history with at least 10 catches and 100 receiving yards. The Seahawks offense surrendered five sacks and turned the ball over three times, though Darnold led a touchdown and field goal drive in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

The Broncos improved to a 4-2 record while the Seahawks fell to 3-3. Denver next travels to face the Arizona Cardinals on October 25, while Seattle will host the Kansas City Chiefs.
