Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young led his team to a 32-26 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday night, moving the franchise to a 2-2 record. Young, 25, currently leads the NFL with 1,268 passing yards and is tied for third in the league with nine passing touchdowns. During the win against Detroit, Young completed 14 passes to wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan for 192 yards and two scores. The Panthers enter their Week 5 bye at the top of the NFC South, marking the first time since 2021 the team has held a .500 record through the first quarter of the season.
Young is averaging 7.8 yards per pass attempt in 2026, an increase from 6.3 yards in 2025. Under offensive coordinator Brad Idzik, Young has increased his deep-ball frequency, targeting receivers 20 yards or more downfield on 11.1% of his attempts. The Panthers currently boast the league's top passing offense, averaging 301.3 yards per game. The unit ranks fourth overall in total offense with 405.8 yards per contest.
Through four games, Young has thrown two interceptions and lost no fumbles, maintaining a ratio of 4.5 touchdowns for every one pick. When targeting the duo of McMillan and Jalen Coker, Young has achieved a 118.7 passer rating, completing 44 of 61 passes for 607 yards. Despite Coker missing the Lions game with a quad injury, Young’s performance has him on pace for 38 passing touchdowns and nine interceptions this season. The Panthers will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6.
