Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right hip and miss the remainder of the season, according to ESPN News Services. The 32-year-old three-time All-Star has been on the injured list since Aug. 30, marking his third stint on the IL this year due to hip issues. Buxton finishes the 2026 campaign with a .254 batting average, 25 home runs, and 46 RBIs across 93 games.

Reporters were told by Buxton that medical staff informed him a recurrence of the injury was inevitable, leading to the decision for the procedure. Despite the surgery, the outfielder is expected to be recovered in time for spring training. The Twins currently sit in third place in the American League Central, trailing the Chicago White Sox by 6½ games with 15 contests left on the schedule. Minnesota also remains 5½ games behind the final American League wild-card position.
