Analysts predict Caleb Williams will finish as the top-scoring quarterback while Brock Bowers attempts to break the NFL tight end reception record with 130 catches.
Caleb Williams enters the 2026 campaign following a season where he finished as the No. 5 quarterback in total scoring and seventh in points per game at 18.7. The signal-caller bolstered his fantasy floor with 383 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Under the guidance of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Williams will utilize a receiving corps featuring tight end Colston Loveland. Loveland himself is projected to exceed 300 fantasy points after a dominant stretch from Weeks 8 to 18 last year, during which he ranked as the No. 2 tight end. In his final four games, including the postseason, Loveland saw 48 total targets.
Brock Bowers is projected to catch 130 passes for the Las Vegas Raiders, a mark that would set a new single-season NFL record for tight ends. Despite an injury-impacted sophomore season, Bowers remains the primary target in an offense that added Jalen Nailor to a wideout group including Tre Tucker. Meanwhile, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is coming off preseason drives where he averaged more air yards per attempt than in any game over the previous two years. This aggressive approach under Joe Brady is expected to propel DJ Moore into the top five among fantasy wide receivers, mirroring the heavy target volume Moore received under Brady in Carolina.
Running Back Volatility and Workload Concerns
Christian McCaffrey faces significant regression risks at age 30 following a 450-touch workload in 2025. History shows McCaffrey has failed to reach 100 fantasy points in seasons immediately following 400-plus touch campaigns, having missed substantial time in those years. Similarly, Jonathan Taylor is under scrutiny after becoming one of only 15 backs in 20 years to record 300 carries in consecutive seasons. Data indicates that of the 13 other players to reach this threshold, only six remained top-12 fantasy finishers the next year, and just four appeared in every game.
Cam Skattebo presents a value opportunity for the New York Giants after averaging 19.1 fantasy points across six full games last season, a pace that would have ranked sixth among all running backs. His draft stock has dipped following the signing of Najee Harris, who is recovering from a torn Achilles. Harris previously struggled to compete for touches with Omarion Hampton. In the AFC North, the Baltimore Ravens aim for top-10 fantasy starters at every position, led by Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, and kicker Tyler Loop. Zay Flowers finished last year as the No. 7 wide receiver, while Mark Andrews has secured five top-five tight end finishes in seven seasons.
Rookie Impact and Veteran Resurgence
San Francisco 49ers rookie De'Zhaun Stribling is positioned to lead all first-year wideouts in scoring after recording 11 catches for 109 yards during his first two preseason appearances. Stribling, who clocked a 4.36-second 40-yard dash at the scouting combine, is expected to operate as the primary slot receiver. His statistical ceiling is currently compared to that of Carnell Tate as he seeks to break into the top 50 in Average Draft Position.
Chris Godwin Jr. looks to reclaim his status as a top-30 wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Before sustaining an ankle injury in 2024, Godwin averaged 19.6 fantasy points per game. Although he was limited to nine games last season, he demonstrated his potential in Week 17 by converting eight targets into 23.8 fantasy points. Godwin is currently projected to earn the second-highest target share on the roster, trailing only Emeka Egbuka.
