Caleb Williams participated fully in practice for the first time since Sept. 18 as he recovers from what he described as a serious hamstring tear.
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams logged full participation in practice on Thursday, marking his first full session since Sept. 18. Williams has been sidelined for three consecutive games after suffering a hamstring injury with 7:42 remaining in the fourth quarter of a 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. While he has been a full participant for two straight days, including a Wednesday walk-through, his status for the Week 6 game against the Atlanta Falcons remains undecided.
Williams clarified that he suffered a "pretty serious" hamstring tear, disputing previous reports of a Grade 2 strain. The injury occurred when his right leg gave out during a run toward the end zone, an incident that required him to be transported by cart to the locker room. Since the injury, the quarterback has undergone five to six hours of daily treatment and recently reached one of the highest top speeds of his career during rehabilitation sprints.
Coach Ben Johnson previously designated Williams as week-to-week on Sept. 21, opting not to set a specific recovery timeline. Williams must now complete team medical protocols and stress testing to determine if he can play in the upcoming two-game stretch, which includes the Oct. 18 matchup in Atlanta and a Thursday night game against the New England Patriots. The quarterback stated he will not hesitate to run during game action once cleared by the medical staff.
