The 27-year-old wideout, who recorded 31 catches for 372 yards and three touchdowns with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, crumbled to the ground while running a route step-for-step against cornerback Deonte Banks. Giants trainers immediately summoned a cart to the field as the session went silent at 3:45 PM ET. Austin is now scheduled for an MRI to determine the specific damage after a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that there was little optimism following the incident.

Prior to being transported for evaluation, the entire Giants roster, including players from the opposite side of the field, gathered around Austin. Quarterbacks, wide receivers, and defensive backs formed a circle for a lengthy prayer while team owner John Mara personally consoled the receiver on the side field.
