Cavan Sullivan became the youngest scorer in USMNT history at 17 years and five days old during a 3-0 win over Mexico on Saturday.

Cavan Sullivan became the youngest goalscorer in United States men's national team history during a 3-0 friendly victory over Mexico on Saturday at State Farm Stadium. The Philadelphia Union midfielder, aged 17 years and five days, scored in the 62nd minute by intercepting a pass from goalkeeper Raúl Rangel and lobbing the ball into an open net from distance. This performance surpassed the previous record set just four days earlier by Mathis Albert, who scored against Chile at 17 years and 131 days.

The United States took an early lead in the first half when 18-year-old Julian Hall scored off a Gio Reyna assist. The goal marked the 10th consecutive game in which the USMNT has scored in the opening half, a new team record. Hall also became only the third player to score in each of his first three international appearances, joining Eddie Johnson and Alexander Rae.

Mexico's night worsened when Mateo Chávez received a red card. Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Malik Tillman capitalized on the advantage, scoring his third goal in four appearances to finalize the 3-0 scoreline. The result represents the largest margin of victory for the U.S. against Mexico since the 2023 Concacaf Nations League semifinals and snapped a two-game losing streak against their rivals.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino earned his 20th career win with the national team, becoming the seventh manager in program history to reach that milestone. The U.S. has now won three straight friendlies since exiting the World Cup in the round of 16. The team concludes the current international window with a match against Canada on Tuesday.
