Christian Pulisic 'Upset' Over Lack of Playing Time, Says AC Milan Coach Ruben Amorim

Christian Pulisic has recorded zero minutes through AC Milan's first three Serie A matches following a bone bruise and microfracture sustained during the World Cup.

AC Milan forward Christian Pulisic has been an unused substitute for the club's opening three Serie A matches under new coach Ruben Amorim. During a news conference on Friday, Amorim stated that the 27-year-old United States international is "upset" regarding his lack of playing time this season. The coach indicated that Pulisic is likely to feature in Saturday's away match against Lazio, though he did not confirm if the attacker would start or enter from the bench.

Pulisic is currently being managed following a bone bruise and microfracture in his lower leg, injuries that occurred during the United States' round-of-16 defeat to Belgium. After returning to training this summer, the forward suffered an additional knock that briefly delayed his integration into the squad. Amorim, who replaced Massimiliano Allegri, noted that he would not displace players currently performing well, as Milan has secured wins against Torino and Venezia and a draw with Juventus.

Despite the slow start, Amorim emphasized that Pulisic remains a vital part of the rotation as the team prepares for a schedule featuring three games per week over an eight-week period. Following the Lazio fixture, Milan has two games remaining before the international break, where the U.S. men's national team is scheduled to play friendlies against Peru, Chile, Mexico, and Canada. USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino recently criticized past decisions by players to skip tournaments like the Gold Cup to stay fresh, labeling the mindset as ineffective.
