Cooper Flagg recorded 14 points, six assists, and five rebounds in 17 minutes before exiting Friday's game against the Indiana Pacers with a shoulder injury.
The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Indiana Pacers 121-105 on Friday night, but lost forward Cooper Flagg to left shoulder soreness for the entire second half. Flagg exited the contest after Aaron Nesmith committed a flagrant 1 foul while attempting to block a breakaway dunk from behind. The collision sent Flagg to the floor, where he landed hard on the same shoulder he previously injured during his rookie season. Before his departure, Flagg tallied 14 points, six assists, and five rebounds across 17 minutes of play.
The incident sparked a confrontation under the basket between Mavericks forward Naji Marshall and Nesmith, resulting in double technical fouls for both players. Following a replay review, Flagg converted one of two free throws before heading to the locker room. A second scuffle occurred near midcourt during the second half, though officials assessed no further penalties. Mavericks head coach Dusty May noted that two players left the bench during the initial fray to check on Flagg's condition.
Coach May stated that Flagg will undergo evaluation over the next few days to determine the extent of the injury and if an MRI is necessary. The 19-year-old, who scored 32 points in the season opener two days prior, did not speak to reporters following the win. Dallas is scheduled to host the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday for the second game of a back-to-back sequence.
