According to sources, the deal includes $63.35 million guaranteed at the time of signing. The contract carries an annual average of $35.3 million, positioning Williams as the second-highest-paid player at his position in the NFL.

Following a trade from the New York Jets at the previous year's deadline, Williams produced 20 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 33 quarterback pressures in seven games for Dallas. His statistical output during that span also included two tackles for loss and one pass breakup. The Cowboys originally acquired the 28-year-old in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 first-round selection, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith. Before this new agreement, Williams was playing under a four-year, $96 million extension signed in 2023 that provided $66 million in guarantees.

Career Production and All-Pro Accolades

A four-time Pro Bowl selection, Williams has accumulated 342 career tackles, 41.5 sacks, and 60 tackles for loss. His lifetime disruptive stats include 134 pressures, 15 pass breakups, eight forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two interceptions. The defensive tackle earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2022, a season highlighted by a career-high 12 sacks during his tenure with the Jets.

Williams now joins an elite group of four defensive tackles averaging over $30 million annually. Jalen Carter leads the market with a $38 million annual average from the Philadelphia Eagles, while Jeffrey Simmons of the Tennessee Titans averages $35.2 million. Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs follows with a $31.75 million yearly average. This new deal surpasses the previous franchise record for a Cowboys defensive tackle set by Osa Odighizuwa, who signed a four-year, $80 million contract in March 2025.

Roster Shifts and Negotiation Timeline

The Cowboys moved on from Odighizuwa during the offseason, trading him to the San Francisco 49ers for a third-round pick. Defensive coordinator Christian Parker’s new scheme was cited as the reason Odighizuwa was no longer considered a fit for the organization. Executive vice president Stephen Jones expressed the team's intent to secure Williams long-term at the start of training camp in Oxnard, California.

Negotiations concluded shortly after Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports, Williams' agent, attended Saturday's practice to meet with front office members. The deal was finalized two days later. This extension follows a series of early contract resolutions for Dallas, including deals for Pro Bowl guard Tyler Smith, kicker Brandon Aubrey, tight end Jake Ferguson, cornerback DaRon Bland, and fullback Hunter Luepke. Williams will now anchor the interior defensive line for the next five seasons.
