Cristiano Ronaldo Júnior, a 16-year-old Al Nassr academy forward, has been selected for Portugal's Under-17 squad for three November qualifiers.
Portugal Under-17 head coach Filipe Ramos has included Cristiano Ronaldo Júnior in his 23-man squad for three European Championship qualifying matches scheduled for November. The 16-year-old Al Nassr academy forward, who has previously played for his country at the U15 and U16 levels, earns his first selection for the U17 side. Portugal is set to host all three fixtures in Lisbon, facing Andorra on Nov. 11, Bulgaria on Nov. 14, and Serbia on Nov. 17.
The youth international could potentially share training facilities with his father, Cristiano Ronaldo, if the 41-year-old is named to Jorge Jesus' senior squad for Nations League games against Denmark and Wales. The elder Ronaldo is currently serving a 30-day suspension imposed by the Portuguese Football Federation following his departure from the national team during October's UEFA Nations League window.
At the club level, the senior Ronaldo was recently rested for Al Nassr's AFC Champions League victory in Uzbekistan due to security concerns in Saudi Arabia. He currently holds the record for men's international scoring with 143 goals in 225 appearances. Following a hat trick last week, his career total stands at 985 goals as he pursues the 1,000-goal milestone.
