Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo is expected to miss one month of action after sustaining a left adductor muscle injury during a 4-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo will miss Sunday’s Clásico against Real Madrid after tests on Wednesday confirmed an injury to his left adductor muscle. The 28-year-old sustained the knock during the first half of Tuesday’s 4-2 Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. According to a club statement, the injury is expected to sideline the Spain international for approximately one month, potentially delaying his return until after the November international break.
In addition to the matchup at Spotify Camp Nou, Olmo is set to miss LaLiga fixtures against Alavés and Atlético Madrid, as well as a Champions League meeting with Aston Villa. Fermín López, who replaced Olmo during the match in Paris, is the likely candidate to start in the attacking midfield role ahead of Rodri and Pedri. This setback ends a period of fitness for Olmo, who had remained injury-free for both club and country since January.
Hansi Flick’s squad faces further roster constraints for the weekend, as Eric García, Andreas Christensen, and Roony Bardghji are also ruled out. Defender Jules Koundé remains a doubt due to an ankle problem that prevented his participation in the PSG fixture. Despite the European loss, Barcelona enters the weekend seeking a 10th consecutive LaLiga victory to extend their lead over José Mourinho’s Real Madrid to nine points.
