Deshaun Watson 'Ready for Support' in Return to Huntington Bank Field

Deshaun Watson completed 24 of 30 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 2 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson stated Wednesday he is "ready for support" ahead of his first home game since being booed by the crowd during a preseason matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 22. The 31-year-old signal-caller enters the contest following a Week 2 road upset of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he completed 24 of 30 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Watson also led Cleveland in rushing during that victory with 22 yards on the ground.

According to ESPN, Watson has appeared in only 21 games since joining the franchise via trade in March 2022 due to injuries and a suspension. Since signing a fully guaranteed $230 million contract, his 34.8 QBR ranks 49th among 51 quarterbacks with a minimum of 15 starts. The upcoming home appearance follows a 2025 season that Watson missed entirely while recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in October 2024.

Browns coach Todd Monken noted Monday that he expects continued improvement from Watson as the quarterback acclimates to the team's system. Monken described the veteran as a "young player" in terms of recent game experience, emphasizing the need for consistency in his drops and reads. Watson’s performance against the Buccaneers followed a Week 1 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in which the offense struggled.
