Dina Thorslund Sweeps 100-90 Scorecards to Become Undisputed Champion

Dina Thorslund secured the WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBF bantamweight titles with a unanimous decision victory over Cherneka Johnson at MVPW-5.

Dina Thorslund became the undisputed bantamweight champion on Saturday night at Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida, defeating Cherneka Johnson via a unanimous decision. All three judges scored the bout 100-90 in favor of the 32-year-old Danish fighter, who now holds the WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBF titles. Thorslund, who improved her record to 25-0 with nine KOs, landed 103 power punches compared to 62 for Johnson. The victory at MVPW-5 saw the challenger win every single round on the official scorecards.

Throughout the main event, Thorslund utilized aggressive combinations to keep Johnson on the defensive. By the end of the third round, the Danish boxer had already established a significant lead in activity, landing 37 punches to Johnson's 14. Johnson, who entered the ring with a 19-3 record and eight KOs, had previously become the undisputed champion by knocking out Shurretta Metcalf in July 2025. During Saturday's contest, however, Thorslund consistently countered Johnson’s single connections with three or four shots in return.

Emotional Journey to the Undisputed Title

This victory follows a turbulent period for Thorslund, who vacated her WBC and WBO bantamweight titles in June 2025 due to pregnancy. One month later, she shared on social media that she had suffered a miscarriage. Her return to professional competition began in January, where she defeated Almudena Alvarez to secure the vacant WBC interim featherweight title before dropping back down to bantamweight for this undisputed opportunity.

Additional emotional strain occurred during her recent training camp in Denmark. Her training partner, Raven Chapman, underwent emergency brain surgery last month after collapsing during a sparring session. Following the decision win, Thorslund fought back tears while stating she intended to take the championship belt straight back to Chapman as a gesture of thanks.

Tamm Thibeault Dominates Co-Main Event

In the co-main event at Caribe Royale, Tamm Thibeault captured the IBF and WBO middleweight belts from Desley Robinson in just her fifth professional fight. The 29-year-old from Shawinigan, Quebec, earned a shutout victory with all three judges scoring the bout 100-90. Thibeault, a 6-foot former amateur world champion and two-time Olympian, now holds a 5-0 record with three KOs.

Thibeault nearly ended the fight in the opening round after landing a straight left that sent Robinson into the ropes, followed by a flurry of punches. Robinson, whose record fell to 12-4 with four KOs, struggled to find her range as Thibeault controlled the distance. By the end of the fifth round, Thibeault had landed 50 power shots, while Robinson had landed only 12.

Statistical Superiority and Physical Adversity

Despite a clash of heads in the sixth round that left Thibeault with a bloody nose, the Canadian challenger did not lose a round. In the fifth frame, Thibeault's left hand bloodied Robinson's face, further cementing her lead. Robinson’s offensive efforts largely missed their targets throughout the 10-round contest.

The all-women main card featured two new champions crowned via unanimous shutouts. Thibeault, standing with the IBF and WBO straps over her shoulders, noted that the belts felt heavy but expressed a desire to acquire more titles in the middleweight division. The event concluded with both Thorslund and Thibeault maintaining undefeated professional records while stripping reigning champions of their multiple world titles.
