President Donald Trump offered the position of White House press secretary to UFC boss Dana White, who plans to meet with the president in Washington, D.C., on Monday.
President Donald Trump announced Saturday that he offered the role of White House press secretary to UFC CEO Dana White. In a social media post from his Florida golf club, Trump requested that White bring several UFC fighters to serve as assistants to help defend the administration. Speaking at a postfight news conference in London on Saturday, White confirmed he is flying to Washington, D.C., for a scheduled meeting with the president on Monday.
While White shared an Instagram image of himself behind the White House briefing room lectern with the caption "On to the next chapter," he has not publicly accepted or rejected the offer. CNN reported Saturday, via a source familiar with the matter, that White would not take the position. The role has been vacant since Karoline Leavitt departed in late August, following a five-day tenure by Katie Zacharia.
The offer follows a series of administrative changes, including the Friday appointment of Stephen Miller as chief of staff to replace Susie Wiles. White has a long history with the president, having spoken at the Republican National Conventions in 2016, 2020, and 2024. In June, Trump hosted White and the UFC on the South Lawn for a celebration involving a wire-mesh Octagon constructed under a metal arch known as "The Claw."
