Erling Haaland is 100% available for Manchester City's Saturday trip to Villa Park after resting during a 5-1 Champions League win over AEK Athens.
Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca confirmed Thursday that Erling Haaland is available for Saturday's Premier League trip to Aston Villa. The Norway striker, who has recorded 12 goals in nine games this season, remained an unused substitute during City's 5-1 Champions League victory against AEK Athens on Tuesday. While Haaland is fit to return, Matheus Nunes, Nico O'Reilly, and Mateo Kovacic remain doubtful for the visit to Villa Park.
City currently leads the Premier League by three points over champions Arsenal, having secured seven consecutive wins to start the domestic campaign. Maresca noted that while the three injured players showed improvement on Wednesday, Haaland is the only member of that group currently guaranteed to be available following three straight home fixtures.
Beyond Haaland's return, Rayan Cherki enters the weekend with six goals and two assists during Maresca's tenure. The coach described the France international as one of Europe's best players when positioned between the lines. Despite the perfect league start, Maresca emphasized that the team remains hungry for more wins with many games remaining in the title race.
