Giants Release Odell Beckham Jr. Following Three-Game Stint

The New York Giants released veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on Tuesday after he recorded zero catches on one target during his second stint with the team.

The New York Giants released wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on Tuesday, ending the 33-year-old’s second tenure with the franchise. Beckham played 19 total snaps across three games this season but did not record a single reception. His final appearance occurred during Sunday’s 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans, where he played six snaps and saw his only target of the season—a pass from Jameis Winston that resulted in a near-interception.

New York made the transaction to facilitate roster changes involving wide receiver Braxton Berrios and outside linebacker Brian Burns. Berrios, the team’s punt returner, was signed to the 53-man roster after exhausting his practice squad elevations. Additionally, the Giants signed wide receiver Charlie Jones to the active roster to replace Burns, who was placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL sustained during the Week 3 victory.

Beckham, a three-time Pro Bowler, originally joined the Giants as the 12th overall pick in 2014 and surpassed 1,300 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons. Before rejoining New York this spring as the fifth receiver on the depth chart, he last played for the Miami Dolphins in 2024, catching nine passes for 54 yards. According to ESPN, the veteran is not currently expected to join the Giants' practice squad. Coach John Harbaugh had previously stated Beckham needed to earn his spot, though the receiver failed to become a factor in the offensive plan despite being healthy for the start of the season.
