Hamza Abdelkarim Signs New Barcelona Contract Through 2030

Egypt striker Hamza Abdelkarim has signed a new deal with Barcelona until 2030 following a preseason where he scored four goals in five games.

Barcelona striker Hamza Abdelkarim signed a new contract on Tuesday that ties the 18-year-old to the club until 2030. According to sources cited by ESPN, the agreement includes a salary increase and a buyout clause now fixed at over €100 million ($115 million). The Egypt international, nicknamed the "Haaland of the Nile," earned the extension after scoring four goals in five friendly appearances during preseason under manager Hansi Flick.

Abdelkarim initially arrived at the club last January from Al Ahly for a fee of €1.5 million ($1.7 million). While he was originally announced for the reserve team, he spent last season with the U19 side before Barcelona exercised an option in June to make his move permanent on a deal through 2029. His rapid rise included a senior debut for Egypt in May and appearances in four of their five World Cup matches prior to a round-of-16 loss to Argentina.

The teenager made his LaLiga debut against Rayo Vallecano in August and has been included in the squad for all six fixtures of the current campaign. He currently serves as the third-choice striker behind Raphinha and Gabriel Jesus. Flick also considers Dani Olmo, Anthony Gordon, Fermín López, and Karim Adeyemi as additional options to play in the middle of the attack.
