Harry Kane scored in the 40th and 57th minutes against Czechia to equal Peter Shilton’s all-time England men's appearance record of 125 caps.
Harry Kane scored two goals to lead England to a 3-0 Nations League victory over Czechia at Wembley on Tuesday. The 33-year-old striker earned his 125th cap in the match, moving level with former goalkeeper Peter Shilton for the most appearances in England men's national team history.
England took the lead when a cross from Kane was diverted into the net for a Vladimír Coufal own goal. Kane then extended the lead in the 40th minute by sweeping home a close-range finish for his 90th international goal. He secured his brace in the 57th minute, heading in a corner delivered by Lewis Hall. The captain was substituted in the 82nd minute to a standing ovation.
With 91 total international goals, Kane now holds a 37-goal lead over second-place scorer Wayne Rooney. He is the fifth active player to reach the 90-goal milestone, trailing Cristiano Ronaldo (146), Lionel Messi (125), Romelu Lukaku (94), and Robert Lewandowski (92). The first goal of the match also marked Kane's 50th strike for club and country in 2026, 17 more than Kylian Mbappé’s 33.
Thomas Tuchel’s side has secured three straight wins following an initial defeat to Spain. Kane, who debuted in 2015 and has served as captain since 2018, can surpass Shilton’s appearance record when England faces Croatia at Wembley on Nov. 12.
