Head coach Emma Hayes officially finalized a 26-player roster on Tuesday for the upcoming SheBelieves Cup, a four-team international tournament scheduled to begin on February 20. The selection features 22 members of the gold medal-winning squad from the Paris Olympics, maintaining a high level of continuity within the senior national team ranks. Lindsey Horan, who currently holds 157 caps, leads the midfield contingent alongside Rose Lavelle, who enters the competition with 106 international appearances and 24 career goals.
Forward Trinity Rodman returns to the attacking rotation after recording 52 caps and 20 goal involvements since her debut. The roster includes three goalkeepers: Alyssa Naeher, Casey Murphy, and Jane Campbell, who collectively represent the defensive foundation for the matches in Houston, Glendale, and San Diego. Naeher remains the most experienced option in net, boasting 112 appearances and 67 clean sheets throughout her tenure with the program.
Defensive selections are anchored by Naomi Girma and Emily Fox, who both started every match during the recent summer championship run. Tierna Davidson and Emily Sonnett provide additional versatility across the backline, with Sonnett approaching the 100-cap milestone during this three-game window. The squad will convene in Texas for the opening fixture against Japan at Shell Energy Stadium, marking the first of three doubleheaders across the United States.
In the midfield, Korbin Albert and Sam Coffey retain their positions following consistent performances in the 2024 campaign. The tactical setup under Hayes emphasizes a high-pressing system, utilizing the speed of Sophia Smith and Mallory Swanson on the wings. Smith arrives at camp with 23 international goals, while Swanson looks to build upon her 38-goal career tally after scoring the decisive winner in the Olympic final.
Uncapped talent is also represented in this February window, as the coaching staff looks to evaluate depth ahead of the next major tournament cycle. The 2025 edition of this competition features a round-robin format involving Australia, Colombia, and Japan, providing a diverse range of tactical challenges for the American side. Each matchday will offer a maximum of six substitutions per team, allowing Hayes to rotate the lineup across the nine-day schedule.
Final roster cuts were determined based on recent club form and fitness assessments conducted during the January training period. This 26-player group will be trimmed to a 23-player active list for each specific matchday according to tournament regulations. The USWNT has won the SheBelieves Cup title seven times previously and enters this year as the defending champion after defeating Canada in a penalty shootout during the 2024 final. Fans can expect the first kickoff to occur at 7:00 PM local time in Houston, followed by subsequent matches at State Farm Stadium and Snapdragon Stadium.
