Hirving Lozano Recalled to Mexico Squad for Rafael Marquez’s First 30-Man Roster

Hirving Lozano has earned his first Mexico call-up in nearly a year as part of a 30-man roster for upcoming friendlies against Colombia, Peru, the United States, and Chile.

LA Galaxy winger Hirving Lozano has returned to the Mexico national team for the first time in nearly a year after being included in Rafael Marquez's inaugural 30-man roster. Lozano, who is currently on loan from San Diego FC, had previously missed all 2026 call-ups and the World Cup following a dispute with his parent club that sidelined him until his August move to Major League Soccer.

Marquez’s squad will compete in four upcoming friendlies, beginning with Colombia on September 26 and Peru on September 29. The schedule continues in October with matches against the United States on October 3 and Chile on October 6. Star forwards Raúl Jiménez and Julián Quiñones were excluded from the selection due to recent injuries.

In the absence of Jiménez and Quiñones, the attack features new Porto signing Santiago Gimenez, Gilberto Mora, and Érik Lira. Liga MX side Chivas provides the highest number of players to the squad with six representatives: Raúl Rangel, Diego Campillo, Roberto Alvarado, Hugo Camberos, Santiago Sandoval, and Luis Romo.

Marquez, who recently served as an assistant to Javier Aguirre, has added Mexico legend Andrés Guardado to his coaching staff. According to ESPN, the new manager stated he is not starting from zero and intends to build upon the foundation established during the previous cycle.
