Hollywood Owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac Acquire Historic Turf Pub

Wrexham AFC owners have purchased The Turf pub, the 1864 founding site of the oldest football club in Wales, from Admiral Taverns.

Wrexham AFC owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have purchased The Turf pub from Admiral Taverns to consolidate the historic venue, the Racecourse Ground, and the football club under single ownership. The acquisition aims to protect the future of the club, which was founded at the site in October 1864. Landlord Wayne Jones will remain in his role and continue to run the public house as part of the transaction.

The purchase allows for further investment into the fan experience on Mold Road, including enhancements to the current fan zone and matchday activities. This move was supported by Red Dragon Ventures and the Allyn family, who joined the club as minority investors in 2024. The pub is located adjacent to the Racecourse Ground, a stadium that hosted its first Wales international fixture in March 1877 and remains the oldest international football venue still in use.

Club statements indicate the strategy is intended to ring-fence key areas related to the life of the club and preserve traditions linked to the historic public house. In recent competitive play, Wrexham secured a victory against Southampton following a last-gasp own goal, while manager Phil Parkinson expressed gratitude for supporter backing after a difficult week.
