The Charlotte Hornets will retire the No. 1 jersey of Muggsy Bogues on Feb. 11. Standing at 5-foot-3, Bogues remains the shortest player in NBA history and currently holds the franchise records for assists, steals, and minutes played. Owners Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin authorized the ceremony to honor the guard's 10-season tenure in Charlotte, which spanned from 1988 to 1998.

Bogues, now 61, originally joined the organization through the 1988 expansion draft and spent 14 years total in the league. He becomes only the third player in franchise history to receive this distinction, joining Bobby Phills (No. 13) and Dell Curry (No. 30). The Baltimore native has maintained a connection with the team for over two decades, serving as both a player and a team ambassador.
