Seth Jarvis participated in a full-contact skate Thursday for the first time since undergoing right shoulder surgery on June 24.
Carolina Hurricanes winger Seth Jarvis participated in the team's Thursday morning skate without his yellow no-contact jersey. The top-line forward underwent surgery on June 24 to repair tears in his right labrum and rotator cuff, an injury he had managed since November 2023. The procedure carried an initial recovery timeline of four to six months.
Jarvis told reporters following the skate that being cleared for contact is the most significant step in his rehabilitation process to date. Prior to this development, he had been limited to non-contact drills since the beginning of preseason camp. The Hurricanes are scheduled to host Vancouver on Thursday night.
While the 2024 Stanley Cup champion previously expressed a desire to return for Carolina’s two-game series against Seattle in Finland on Nov. 12 and 14, he has indicated a potential return by late October. To manage the injury over the past year, Jarvis utilized a protective harness and altered his sleeping positions. He will now focus on acclimating to physical play before returning to the active lineup.
