Jahmyr Gibbs recorded his 58th career touchdown during a 45-21 win against the Arizona Cardinals to surpass a mark previously held by Barry Sanders.

Jahmyr Gibbs recorded two rushing touchdowns and 207 total yards to lead the Detroit Lions to a 45-21 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. At 5:03 in the fourth quarter, the 24-year-old running back scored his 58th career touchdown, surpassing Hall of Famer Barry Sanders for the most NFL touchdowns scored before turning 25. Gibbs finished the contest with 151 rushing yards and 56 receiving yards as Detroit improved to a 3-2 record.

Quarterback Jared Goff completed 19-of-30 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns, adding one rushing score. After a scoreless first quarter, the Lions offense produced 24 points in the second period and scored on seven consecutive drives. Wide receiver Jameson Williams caught his first two touchdowns of the season, while tight end Sam LaPorta contributed 88 yards and a touchdown on five receptions.

Through five games, Gibbs leads the NFL with nine total touchdowns, consisting of seven rushing and two receiving scores. He stated he is now pursuing LaDainian Tomlinson’s single-season record of 28 rushing touchdowns. The Lions offense currently leads the league with an average of 32.8 points per game.

Defensively, Detroit limited Arizona to 14 points following the Cardinals' opening-drive touchdown. The Lions now enter a bye week and anticipate the return of Pro Bowl defensive back Brian Branch, who recently began a 21-day practice window after recovering from a 2025 Achilles injury.
