Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts returned to the team's practice facility on Wednesday, attending both the full team meeting and additional positional sessions. According to ESPN, this marked the first time several teammates had seen the 28-year-old since he was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 17. While Hurts did not address the group, team sources noted his presence provided a morale boost as he continues to recover from a deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli.
Coach Nick Sirianni confirmed he has been in constant communication with Hurts, who is currently undergoing treatment involving anticoagulation medication. This treatment prevents the quarterback from participating in contact activities, and he is expected to miss the remainder of the season. The medical issue was first identified as a superficial clot in London prior to the Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but a follow-up ultrasound the following Wednesday revealed the clot had moved.
The Eagles are currently on a six-game losing streak and will host the New York Giants this Sunday. In Hurts' absence, backup Tanner McKee went 0-3 as a starter, recording two touchdowns and two interceptions. The team plans to start Joe Milton this week, who was signed from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad in mid-October.
