Quarterback Jayden Daniels will return to the Commanders' starting lineup Sunday, but Washington will be without leading receiver Stefon Diggs.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will start Sunday's divisional game against the New York Giants following a dislocated left elbow. Daniels, who was a full participant in practice this week, will wear a brace on his non-throwing arm for the remainder of the season to keep the joint slightly bent. Offensive coordinator David Blough stated there will be no limitations to the game plan for the 1-3 Commanders, who are currently 0-2 in the NFC East.

While the quarterback returns, wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury sustained during a Week 4 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Diggs currently leads the team with 18 receptions, 170 yards, and three touchdowns. Receiver Terry McLaurin, who ranks second on the team with 141 yards, is considered a possibility to play after practicing Friday; he missed the previous game with a hamstring strain.

Washington's roster will also see the return of right guard Sam Cosmi after he missed two games with a concussion. Running back Rachaad White is expected to play after missing the 2025 season with a shoulder injury. Rookie Athan Kaliakmanis is slated to serve as the backup quarterback for the matchup against the 3-1 Giants, while Sam Hartman remains a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad as an emergency third option.
