The event, organized by his brand 741 Performance alongside Hue Boston and the city, was free to the public and required no tickets. The block party featured live sets from rappers Lil Jon, Lil Baby, and A$AP Ferg. A highlight of the afternoon occurred when Brown joined A$AP Ferg on stage to perform their collaborative track "Just Do It," which was released last month. She noted that the city was still processing the trade and told Brown, "We are never going to let you forget us." Wu emphasized that Brown had changed lives throughout the community, which served as the primary reason for the large turnout at the Common. The presentation of the "Jaylen Brown Way" sign was intended to ensure the forward would always have a permanent piece of the city following his move to Philadelphia.

The trade on July 1 officially ended Brown's 10-year run with the Celtics, a period defined by the 2024 championship victory. Following the Sunday event, Brown posted "God is crazy" on his X account to express his reaction to the day's honors. The forward will make his return to Boston as a member of the visiting team on January 21, when the 76ers are scheduled to play the Celtics.
