Denver Broncos wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and cornerback Riley Moss were both ruled out with concussions during Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte. Waddle exited the contest with just seconds remaining in the first quarter after recording one catch for 22 yards. The injury occurred when Waddle attempted a reception in front of cornerback Marco Wilson and was hit by Zakee Wheatley, who forced the ball loose. Although Waddle initially walked toward the huddle, he subsequently left the field and did not return.
Cornerback Riley Moss sustained his concussion minutes later in the second quarter while performing a tackle on Trevor Etienne. With Moss sidelined, second-year cornerback Jahdae Barron took over his position. These injuries further depleted a Denver secondary that entered the day without starting safeties Brandon Jones and Talanoa Hufanga, who were inactive due to hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively.
According to Jeff Legwold of ESPN, Waddle has now dealt with ankle, chest, and head injuries this season. Through eight games, the receiver has totaled 30 receptions for 337 yards and two touchdowns. The Broncos (6-2) held a narrow lead over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West standings heading into the matchup.
