The 32-year-old Englishman finished the tournament at 14-under par, overcoming a seven-stroke deficit at the start of the day. His closing round featured nine birdies, four of which occurred during his final six holes. Dean’s performance placed him three shots clear of a four-way tie for second place involving Nacho Elvira (69), Daniel Hillier (73), Niklas Norgaard (71), and Jacob Skov Olesen (71).

Ranked No. 292 in the world, Dean utilized his wife, Emily, as his caddie throughout the week in Birmingham. The victory marks a significant shift for a golfer who spent nearly four years delivering groceries to fund his playing career. He began that part-time work during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 while he lacked a tour card. Dean noted that he still sees the delivery vans on the road and maintains contact with his former colleagues, though he acknowledged the transition to a professional golf lifestyle is a complete change.

Final Round Surge at The Belfry

Dean’s 63 was the lowest score among the leaders on Sunday, allowing him to post a clubhouse lead while late starters remained on the course. Daniel Hillier, who held the lead after the third round, fell back with a 1-over 73. The victory serves as the opening event for Team Europe’s qualifying process ahead of next year’s Ryder Cup. This puts Dean in an unexpected position for a roster spot, just two years after captain Luke Donald led Europe to a 15-13 victory over the United States at Bethpage Black.

Marco Penge finished the tournament in a tie for sixth place after shooting a final-round 72. Penge, who recorded three wins on the European tour in a previous breakout season, was not selected as a captain's pick for the last Ryder Cup. He stated this week that he agreed with Donald’s decision regarding that selection.

The win at the British Masters follows Dean’s recent marriage to Emily, which took place after the Open Championship in July. Dean credited his wife for her support during both the professional highs and the personal lows of his career.
