Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the 59th minute of PSG's Champions League win.
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Tuesday's Champions League victory against Barcelona. The 25-year-old winger sustained the injury during a collision with Xavi Espart in the 59th minute and was carried from the pitch by medical staff. The club announced the Georgia international will undergo surgery in the coming days, a development expected to sideline him for the remainder of the 2026-27 season.
Additional injuries occurred during the match as PSG consolidated their position at the top of the Champions League League Phase. Ousmane Dembélé limped off in the 19th minute with a left thigh injury, while captain Marquinhos suffered a right thigh problem. Both players are expected to be out of action for a few weeks.
According to ESPN, the typical recovery timeframe for Kvaratskhelia’s injury is at least nine months. The former Napoli player's absence comes ahead of PSG's Sunday travel to face Ligue 1 leaders Lyon in a top-of-the-table fixture.
