LAFC Dismisses Head Coach Marc Dos Santos Following Disappointing First Season

LAFC fired Marc Dos Santos on Sunday night after the club fell to 11-9-8 following a -10 loss to FC Dallas.

LAFC general manager John Thorrington announced the firing of head coach Marc Dos Santos on Sunday night. The dismissal follows a 1-0 loss at FC Dallas on Saturday, which left the club with an 11-9-8 record. Under Dos Santos, the team won only one of its last nine matches across all competitions and has gone 1-4-5 in MLS play since July.

Despite a roster featuring Son Heung-Min and Denis Bouanga, LAFC currently sits sixth in the Western Conference standings. The club was also eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions League in May. Dos Santos, who previously served as an assistant to Steve Cherundolo for four seasons, lasted only nine months in the head coaching role after being hired to replace Cherundolo.

LAFC began the season with a 3-0 victory against Inter Miami in front of 75,673 fans at the Coliseum, but performance declined, leading to fans booing the team at BMO Stadium. The organization has not yet named a replacement for Dos Santos, who was the third head coach in the franchise's history. The team's next scheduled match is against Vancouver on Oct. 10, with six games remaining in the regular season.
