Lamar Jackson has only an outside chance to play Sunday against the Falcons after suffering a left ankle sprain during Baltimore's 24-18 win over the Titans.
Lamar Jackson is dealing with a sprained left ankle that gives him only an outside chance to play in the Baltimore Ravens' Week 5 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The two-time NFL MVP suffered the injury just before halftime during a 24-18 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 4. Jackson did not participate in the second half of that contest and was seen leaving M&T Bank Stadium wearing a protective boot on his left foot.
Ravens coach Jesse Minter stated Monday that the organization is still gathering information regarding the injury, though he does not expect the quarterback to be sidelined for an extended period. While the sprain could result in multiple missed games depending on rehab progress, it is not considered a long-term issue and is not expected to require surgery. If Jackson is unable to start Sunday night, Tyler "Snoop" Huntley is slated to take over at quarterback for Baltimore.
The Ravens currently hold a 3-1 record, tied with the Cleveland Browns for the lead in the AFC North. Statistical data shows a significant disparity in team performance based on Jackson's availability; since 2019, Baltimore is 79-32 and averages 28.4 points per game with Jackson starting. In contrast, the team has a 6-11 record and averages 17.6 points per game when he is absent from the lineup.
