LeBron James secured a 98-93 victory for Philadelphia with a late fadeaway jumper and a putback layup against the Knicks.

LeBron James recorded 20 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 98-93 NBA Cup victory over the New York Knicks on Friday night. The win at Xfinity Mobile Arena moved Philadelphia to a 5-1 record for the season. James secured the result in the final minute, responding to a game-tying step-back 3-pointer by Jalen Brunson with a fadeaway jumper over OG Anunoby and a putback layup with 11.9 seconds remaining.

At 41 years and 304 days old, James tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the fifth-oldest player in NBA history to post a 20-point game. This performance marked his 68th game scoring at least 20 points since turning 40, surpassing the combined total of 67 such games by all other players in league history. Coach Nick Nurse described the outing as James' best game since joining the franchise.

Playing without Jaylen Brown, who is sidelined by a left patellar injury, James scored 12 points in the first half on nine shot attempts. After a quiet third quarter where he managed only two points from the free-throw line, he scored six points in the fourth period. The 76ers have now won all five of their games this season in clutch time, defined as the final five minutes with the score within five points. Philadelphia travels to face the Hornets in Charlotte on Saturday.
