Canady has primarily taken repetitions from the nickel position during the opening days of camp in St. Joseph. Meanwhile, second-year defensive end Ethan Downs was absent from Sunday's practice due to an apparent left knee injury sustained Saturday after contact with rookie running back Emmett Johnson.

Prior to Saturday's practice, the Chiefs placed defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott and tight end John Michael Gyllenborg on the physically unable to perform list. Norman-Lott, a 2025 second-round pick, is recovering from a right knee ACL injury, while Gyllenborg is sidelined with a sprained knee.
