Following this notification, the club executed an aggressive transfer strategy, securing seven senior signings at a total cost exceeding £450 million ($596m). The public was not made aware of the verdict until Friday, September 25, 2026.

During the summer window, City twice surpassed their previous transfer record. The club signed Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116m and Enzo Fernández from Chelsea for a joint-British record fee of £125m. While the Anderson deal was agreed upon on July 2—prior to the club's knowledge of the verdict—he did not officially sign until July 23.

On the pitch, Enzo Maresca’s side has secured seven victories in seven matches across all competitions. They currently lead the Premier League table with a perfect record of five wins from five games, placing them three points ahead of defending champions Arsenal.
