Quarterback Marcus Mariota led the Washington Commanders to a 33-31 victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Starting in place of Jayden Daniels, who is week-to-week with a dislocated left elbow, Mariota completed 19 of 31 passes for 183 yards. The former No. 2 overall pick threw three touchdowns and zero interceptions, securing the win with a 9-yard run on a third-and-7 keeper late in the game.

Washington’s offense converted two turnovers into touchdowns, while the defense added a pick-six from backup linebacker Kain Medrano in the fourth quarter. Mariota’s scoring passes included a strike to running back Rachaad White, an 11-yard connection with Trey Burks, and a deep ball to Terry McLaurin. The win moved the Commanders to 1-2 on the season following a Week 2 loss to Dallas.

The Commanders played without five starters, including Daniels, linebacker Frankie Luvu, tight end Chig Okonkwo, right guard Sam Cosmi, and safety Nick Cross. Before the final series, Mariota required an IV in the locker room due to the increased workload. The team is scheduled to fly to London on Tuesday night for an October 4 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, though it remains unclear if Daniels will be cleared to play.
