Seattle exercised a $9 million option for reliever Andrés Muñoz on Thursday, while outfielder Victor Robles becomes a free agent after his $9 million option was declined.
The Seattle Mariners exercised a $9 million option on Thursday for reliever Andrés Muñoz, preventing the 27-year-old right-hander from entering free agency. Muñoz, a two-time All-Star, posted a 5-6 record with a 4.24 ERA and 28 saves across 57 1/3 innings this past season. His current contract, signed in 2021, includes a $10 million option for 2028 that can escalate based on games finished.
Seattle declined a $9 million option for outfielder Victor Robles, who now enters free agency with a $500,000 buyout. Robles appeared in 65 games, hitting .256 with 10 stolen bases and nine RBI while dealing with a right pectoral muscle strain. Additionally, the club declined a $6,075,000 option for right-hander Bryce Miller, though he remains under team control and is arbitration-eligible. Miller received a $15,000 buyout following a season where he went 4-10 with a 4.17 ERA in 21 starts.
Four other players became free agents on Thursday: outfielders Randy Arozarena and Taylor Ward, shortstop J.P. Crawford, and left-hander Hoby Milner. The roster moves follow a season where Miller's debut was delayed until May 13 due to a strained left oblique and Robles was limited to 32 games in 2025 by a dislocated left shoulder.
