South Korea nearly forced a tie in the final half-inning, but Ju Won Kim was called out at home plate on a close play. A video replay confirmed the out, sealing the victory. Yi Chang was credited with the win, Jyun-Yue Tseng earned the save, and Woo-Suk Go took the loss.

Chinese Taipei utilized three home runs to build their lead before turning to small ball in the final inning. Yu Chang hit a solo home run in the first, and Tsung-Che Cheng added another solo shot in the second. Stuart Fairchild, an outfielder in the Cleveland Guardians organization, hit a two-run home run in the eighth to give Chinese Taipei a 4-3 lead. This marked Fairchild’s second home run of the tournament, following a grand slam against Czechia. Fairchild, who is eligible for the team because his mother is from Chinese Taipei, described the match as one of the most fun games of his life.

South Korea fell to a 1-2 record following the extra-innings defeat. They managed to tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth when Do Yeong Kim hit a double that allowed Hyeseong Kim to score. Despite multiple rallies throughout the game, South Korea could not overcome the final out at the plate. Chinese Taipei finished its Pool C schedule with a 2-2 record. South Korea must now face Australia on Monday in a game that will determine the final quarterfinalist from the group.
