Manchester United conceded four goals in a European match for the first time in 33 years during a 4-1 loss to Como.

Como defeated Manchester United 4-1 at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on Wednesday, marking United's seventh consecutive game without a win. Nico Paz opened the scoring for the Italian side within the first two minutes with a curling strike from the edge of the penalty area. Paz later assisted Anastasios Douvikas, who scored three minutes and 14 seconds into the second half to make it 2-0. Paz added his second goal of the night to extend the lead to 3-0 following a mistake by Carlos Baleba, before Jacobo Ramón headed in a fourth goal for the hosts. Joshua Zirkzee scored a late consolation goal for the visitors.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick, who is 11 games into his permanent tenure, apologized to supporters following the defeat. The result represents the first time the club has conceded four goals in a European fixture in 33 years. Carrick made two tactical substitutions at halftime, replacing Matheus Cunha and Andrey Santos with Baleba and Amad Diallo, though the changes failed to spark a comeback. Captain Bruno Fernandes was also substituted midway through the second half.

The defeat comes five months after Carrick signed a new two-year contract following a third-place Premier League finish. United now prepare to host AFC Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday. During the match in Lombardy, approximately 700 United fans traveled to Italy, though many departed before the final whistle.
