Coach Mike LaFleur confirmed he will continue calling offensive plays and Nick Rallis will remain the defensive playcaller following a 45-21 loss to Detroit.
Arizona Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur announced Monday that he will not make changes to the team's coaching duties following a 45-21 loss to the Detroit Lions. The Cardinals have started the season 1-4, with a defense that has surrendered more than 30 points in each of the last four games. LaFleur confirmed he will remain the offensive playcaller and Nick Rallis will continue to call defensive plays.
While coaching roles remain static, the team is considering a roster adjustment involving rookie quarterback Carson Beck. Arizona officials will discuss Tuesday whether to move Beck from his current status as an inactive emergency quarterback to the active roster for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Statistically, the Cardinals defense has recorded seven sacks over the last two games, marking the unit's most productive two-game stretch since 2024. However, the offense has struggled with consistency, alternating between scoring touchdowns on opening drives and becoming a "three-and-out machine." Against the Lions, Arizona scored a touchdown on its first possession, following a Week 4 performance where they scored touchdowns on their first two drives against the New York Giants.
