Miyu Yamashita carded a final-round 68 to finish at 22-under 266, securing a two-stroke victory over China's Yan Liu.
Miyu Yamashita successfully defended her Maybank Championship title on Sunday, finishing with a 72-hole total of 22-under 266 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club. The 25-year-old Japanese golfer carded a final-round 68 to defeat China’s Yan Liu by two strokes. Yamashita recorded five birdies against a single bogey on the par-4 9th hole to secure her second LPGA Tour victory of the season and her fifth career title.
Yan Liu finished in second place at 18-under 268 following her own closing round of 68. Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, the first-round leader, shot a 69 on Sunday to tie for third at 17-under with Thai amateur Marisa Tojai, who posted a 67. Australian Robyn Choi took fifth place with a total of 271 after carding a 69 in the final round.
Yamashita held the lead from Friday's second round through the conclusion of the tournament. This win follows her nine-stroke, wire-to-wire victory at the CPKC Women's Open in August. The LPGA Tour now moves to Omitama for the Toto Japan Classic, which serves as the conclusion of the four-week Asian swing.
